To be the head or the tail

“The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.” (Deuteronomy 28:13 NIV) By definition, humanity was created to be the head, not the tail. This literally means to be the giver of direction, to “create the current” – not to “go with the flow.” “Vanity and a grasping for the wind” is a result of a vicious cycle, when a person is unable to direct his circumstances and becomes hostage to them. King Solomon comes to this conclusion when he realizes that his spiritual needs are not satisfied by either his wisdom or his opportunities.
