Of the lawful and the illicit competitors

Many people put great effort in order to achieve recognition. But one’s zeal must be of the proper origin, in order to be justified before God. Paul tells us that those who do not compete according to the rules, will have no success. What are the rules of the lawful competitors? Each servant of the Gospel must know and understand these rules. “Anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.” (2 Tim. 2:5)
