Whatever is not from Faith is Sin

The Spiritual Development of a Person #22

“Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin” (NKJV Rom. 14:22-23) To follow the Holy Spirit’s call doesn’t release me from the law responsibility. Not at all. On the contrary, the Spirit’s call challenges me to surpass a traditionally defined minimum. The obscure will of God scares me, so acting like a snail, I hide in the shell of commandments and traditions since following them I’ll surely gain the eternal life. Actually, that’s all I am after. As soon as my uncontrolled passions get out of any threat, I am absolutely fine with the tradition. It’s my rescue from the world just like the cage is the refuge for my little parrot trying to escape from my overexcited and unruly kids craving for taking it to pieces.
